Description
This is a used Audio-Technica BP-896 subminiature lavalier microphone that terminates in TA5F for use with Lectrosonics transmitters. I used this microphone lightly when I was considering transitioning to location audio work full-time. It was mostly used for weekend shoots, as I had a full-time office job at the time. It has been used probably fewer than 50 times. I take good care of my equipment. This comes with the original case, but the top of the case separates from the bottom, as shown in the photo. This microphone sounds excellent. It is essentially equal in sound quality, if not better, than the Countryman B6. I closely compared the two before I purchased this microphone, and decided that I liked the BP-896 better. If you are in need of a tiny lav microphone of this style, as a main mic or a backup, getting a lightly used AT BP-896 like this one is a great option. You get the same functionality that you would from a B6, without having to spend $340. This one includes the original mic clip, and several wire-clip attachments that mount to the mic clip (see photos). There are also several mic heads in different colors. These are useful when you are hiding the mic, and the head points out a bit. You can use the tan and while heads to blend in with the subject's clothing/costume. When I was doing location sound, I found myself using my BP-896 more often than my Sanken COS-11D, because I always tried to hide the lav whenever possible, and the BP-896 was easier to hide. TESTED: This microphone was fully tested before listing, and it is working perfectly. Here is what Audio-Technica had to say about this mic. Note that the original price was $379: Audio-Technica introduces its smallest lavalier offering to date, the BP896 Subminiature Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone. Intended for capture of high-quality audio with unobtrusive profile, the BP896 provides maximum intelligibility and clean, accurate reproduction for broadcasters, lecturers, church/house of worship users, actors and presenters. The BP896 capsule measures a mere 2.5 mm in diameter, making it ideal for applications requiring minimum visibility. The microphone operates on phantom power and includes a complete accessory kit. The BP896 is available in black and beige wired and wireless models. The wireless offerings include a multitude of terminations designed to work with Audio-Technica and other manufacturers' wireless systems. The ruggedly designed BP896 handles high SPLs and offers a wide frequency response. The subminiature omni element is enclosed in a durable, low-profile housing with internal construction designed to minimize noise from handling, clothing and wind. The microphone plugs into the included AT8539 power module, which provides a low-frequency roll-off switch and an integral XLR3M connector supplying a low-impedance balanced output. The extensive accessory kit includes a clothing clip base, viper clip base, three single mic holders, two double mic holders, two windscreens, and six element covers (two each in black, white, and beige) for blending in with users’ attire. A protective carrying case is also included. The BP896 will be available in June 2009 with pricing (U.S. MSRPs) as follows: BP896 Subminiature omnidirectional condenser lavalier microphone $479.00.
